Joe Nevarez

Joe Nevarez, Jr., 83, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 9, 2009. He was born on December 9, 1925 in El Paso to Jose Nevarez and Maria Mendoza. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a machinist for W.R. Weaver Company for 37 years. He later served as president of Nevarez Enterprises, Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Consuelo Nevarez and brother Jesus Nevarez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Amelia M. Nevarez, sons Michael (wife Margie), David, Joe III (wife Carmen), Robert, and Adrian, daughter Alice Rosales, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, baby blue eyes, his love for life and people, and above all, his unceasing love for the Lord. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home -West Chapel of Remembrance. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
