Joaquin Garcia Jr., Korean War Veteran, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born in Fabens, Texas on May 5th, 1932 and resided in El Paso, Texas. He retired from the Department of El Paso Parks and recreation after many years of service. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elena C. Garcia, two children, Joaquin Garcia III and Martha Garcia, and his five wonderful grandchildren, Joaquin IV, CJ, Sebastian, Baylee and Santiago. He is also survived by his brothers, Victor Garcia (wife Tonia), Robert Garcia, his sister, Antonia Romo and many loving nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, a caring father and a dedicated grandfather. He will be missed dearly and will remain in the hearts of his family. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Wednesday, June 27, 2012 with a vigil at 6:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 12 pm Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Santo Nino de Atocha Catholic Church, 210 S. Clark. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
