Jill Jaquays Johnston was born November 10, 1945, and passed Monday, June 4, 2012. She grew up in Warren, Ohio, the only child of Harry and Virginia Johnston. She received a Bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State University. Her love of children and animals was well known. She was a teacher at both Beall and Aoy Elementary Schools, where she was greatly loved by both students and faculty and was selected EPISD Teacher of the Year. She also taught ESL to adults in the evening. Johnston volunteered with the Chihuahuan Desert Wildlife Rescue, adopting ducks in need of shelter and care until being released back into the wild. In all aspects of her life, she was a giving, caring person who put others first. Upon her death she was an organ donor, giving her liver and both kidneys to local recipients. She is survived by her daughters Jill Sangabi and Jodi Chestnut, her granddaughter Samantha Sangabi, her grandsons Bailyn and Connor Gutierrez, and her three cats Bethany, Holly, and Olive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Humane Society of the United States or the National Stroke Association.
