Jesus Vega Jr.

Jesus Vega Jr., 91, passed away on Monday, November 06, 2023.  Jesus was born in Houston, Texas on December 01, 1931.  He graduated from Austin High School, EPCC, and UTEP. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from WSMR in 1989.

He married the love of his life, Rosa M. Martinez on November 11, 1952.  He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was loved by all. His hobbies included supporting the Optimist Baseball club, fishing in Ruidoso and watching the Cowboys.  He was always willing to help family and friends. 

He believed in the importance of education and was very proud that several grandchildren had received doctorate degrees.  Jesus is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Paula Vega, his brothers Francisco, Roberto, Teodoro, Rafael, and Jose Angel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rosa, his beloved children; Julie, Jesus III, Mary Ann, Patsy, and Ricky (Sylvia), 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and brothers, Susano, Juan (Rebecca), Tomas. 

Visitation will be  from 4:00-8:00 PM with a  Rosary at 6:30 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.  The Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4805 Byron Street.  Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Honors, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue.
