Our dear Papá, Jesus Arturo Briones, 93 years young, earned his angel wings leaving peacefully to meet our Lord on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Jesus was born on May 17, 1931 in Chihuahua, Mexico. In his youth, Papá was a sports enthusiast excelling in swimming, diving, and tennis. Later in his life, he became a bowling enthusiast, accumulating numerous trophies from competing in bowling tournaments.
He began his career in Chihuahua at his family owned business, the first photo engraving business of its kind in the area. In his efforts to improve the quality of life for his family, he moved with the family to Ciudad Juarez and they made the eventual transition to the U.S. He continued as a photo engraver with Commercial Engraving Co. where he retired after 45 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aureliano and Dolores, his brothers, Salvador, Aureliano, Roberto, and his sisters, Ana Maria, and Velia, his son, Jose Arturo and most recently his nephew, Jon Stenstad Briones.
He met his wife and lifelong companion, Lola, when he was 15 years old. They dated for 5 years prior to their marriage of 72 years which they celebrated in March 2024. He is survived by his 5 children Silvia Oralia, Ana Maria, Jorge Luis, Roberto Arturo and Chacha, their spouses, 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was a great father, father-in-law, grandfather, and overall, a gentle, kind man. He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of his life will be held from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary at 1:00 PM and a Chapel Service to follow at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina.
