Jerry Lee Porter Sr. pasted April 2, 2008 in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Stover, Mississippi October 25th, 1938 and was raised in Chicago, Illinois. Son of Joe and Jennie Porter (Hill). Brother of Ozell, Bobbie Jean, Jimmy, and Reggie Porter. Jerry Porter served in the US Army from 1961-1984 as a food service specialist. After leaving the service he continued in his field as a civil service employee from 1985 – 1990. He then continued his profession at the County Sheriff’s department. Jerry traveled to many places and formed many long lasting and wonderful friendships during his time with us. There will be so many things we will miss about him. He was a caring and giving man who would do anything in the world for you. He was always there for us and we know he’ll still always be there. Jerry is survived by his wife, Edisa Porter, their three children Jerry L. Porter Jr., Malena Z. Porter, Jonathan L. Porter and his six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment will follow to Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. Service entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
