Jennie Cortez Sagaribay

Jennie Cortez Sagaribay, 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Medical Center of Plano. Born March 20, 1938 in Carthage, Missouri to Valentine and Jennie Mitchell Cortez. Resident of Denton, TX for 11 years; 42 years in El Paso, TX; and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. A retiree of Ysleta Independent School District as a Cafeteria Manager at Eastwood Heights Elementary School. Member of the Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years -Valente Sagaribay, her parents, 7 brothers, 4 sisters, and 2 grandchildren. Survived by her children: Benita and Ramon Bejarano, Raul and Terry Sagaribay, Ricardo Sagaribay, Maria Luisa Kirksey, Roman Sagaribay, Sonya Teresa Arenivar; Brothers: Valentine and Bobbie Cortez, Marcus and Juanita Cortez; Sister: Dorothy Cortez; Brother-in-law Juan and Emma Sagaribay; Sister-in-law Hortencia Neve; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Sagaribay will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina, El Paso, TX, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 14 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Msgr. Arturo Banuelos officiating. Pallbearers: Christopher Bejarano, Raul Sagaribay Jr., Robert Kirksey, Richard Kirksey, Allan Kirksey, and David Anthony Arenivar. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
