Javier Armando (Mando) Velarde

Javier Armando Velarde (Mando), age 72, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 15,2021 in Wichita, Kansas. He was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Javier is preceded in death by his parents: his father, Manuel R. Velarde, his loving mother, Graciela Guisado Medina and his stepdad, Victor Medina; his dear “little” sister, Sofia Vega, and his brother-in-law, Victor A. Yanar. He is survived by his sisters: Maria Luisa (Tita) Yanar and Victoria (Vicki) Garcia; brothers-in-law (Tom Vega and Raul Garcia), his beloved nieces (Soraya Yanar Hanshew, Crystal Gonzalez and Natalia Vega), his nephews (Tomas Javier (T.J.) Vega, Omar Yanar, Erik Hanshew, and Josh Gonzalez) and his grandnieces(Monserrat and Victoria Vega, Alea Hanshew and Jasmine Clarisse Gonzalez). His memory will be cherished and honored by his family and friends. A Visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home- West. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines, Sunland Park, New Mexico.
