Javier “Javi” Ontiveros

November 14, 1969 - March 26, 2025

With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Javi, a man whose heart was as big as his list of friends and family, and whose love for life was contagious. Javi sadly left us too early, but not before filling the world with laughter, love and many unforgettable memories. Javi would have asked you to celebrate his life the “Javi way”, by gathering with us, putting on a football jersey and making a memory.

Javi was a passionate soul who lived life fully and to the beat of his own drum - whether it was tailgating with friends before a Cowboys or Miners game, hosting family gatherings or preparing irresistible colitas de pavo or chicharones en el cazo. A lover of all holidays, especially Easter, Javi was the first to start planning the Easter egg hunts, camping trips, carne asadas and always made sure his friends and family were at the center of all the fun. Javi’s love for his country was evident in his celebrations of the 4 of July, his love for American football and fireworks. His home was always open and filled with laughter, good food and a damn good time.

Javi was a social butterfly who knew no strangers. Whether he was coaching a little league or substituting as a teacher, Javi had a knack for making people feel seen, heard and loved. He had an incredible ability to connect with others and all those that had the privilege of knowing him joked Javi was a walking directory of El Paso. Anyone around him was bound to be touched by his warmth and generosity. Javi’s giving spirit was unparalleled- whether it was lending a hand to a friend in need, offering words of encouragement, or going out of his way to help others, Javi was always there when someone needed him.

As an entrepreneur, Javi was a risk-taker that made things happen, achieving success as a proud business owner. His hard work and dedication were evident in everything he did, from running his own business to tending to his beloved yard, where he spent countless mornings before the sun rose.

Javi was a man who adored family, especially his many nieces and nephews, whom he treated as if they were his own. His family was his greatest joy, and he made it a point to be present in their lives, sharing his love of adventure, his wisdom, his hilarious stories and his big heart.

He believed in making memories and with him, there was always something to celebrate, whether it was a holiday, a Cowboy’s games, or just the beauty of spending time together. Javi’s love for adrenaline was matched only by his love of life. From rollercoasters to golfing, he embraced every opportunity to feel the rush of excitement, all while encouraging those around him to join the fun.

While Javi lived a full and vibrant life, it was his authenticity and the joy he brought to others that will leave the most lasting impression. He was the type of person who could light up a room with his energy and make everyone feel like family. He accomplished every goal he set, and his life is a testament to living boldly, laughing often, being there for those you love, and loving deeply.

In lieu of flowers, help us to celebrate Javi’s life by donating to $Cruzbej (QR code is located under the "upcoming services") in his honor.
