Javier Ramon Hernandez, age 78, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Javier was born in El Paso, Texas on April 15, 1943 and was a proud graduate of Bowie High School, class of 1962. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1967. He married Norma I. Mijares in 1972. He worked at Union Fashion for several years and went on to work for the City of El Paso, Parks and Recreation, from where he retired. Javier was a kind and generous man. He had the gift of storytelling and really enjoyed making people laugh. He was an amazing cook, and catered for endless family and non family events. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. We will miss him dearly. Javier is preceded in death by his mother Soledad Hernandez. He is survived by his wife Norma I. Hernandez, son Paul Hernandez (Yvette), son Adrian Hernandez, granddaughters Samantha Coblentz (Dominic), Sabrina Hernandez, honorary granddaughter Kaitlyn Rosas, sister Martha Hernandez, as well as many relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 8, from 10am to 1pm at Sunset Funeral Home at 480 N. Resler Dr. Service will begin at 11am followed by his interment at Ft. Bliss Cemetery at 1:30pm, both officiated by Pastor Terry Gray. We would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Christine Hernandez (retired) and her staff. We are extremely grateful to The Covenant Foster Home where Olivia Vasquez, Pati and Selina cared for Javier with compassion and love. We also want to thank Tender Care Hospice for their tender care.
