Javier Alcantar

Javier Alcantar, 59, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 23, 2009. Mr. Alcantar was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy where he earned The National Defense Service Medal. After his service to our country he helped many students succeed in college through his service to El Paso Community College for 28 years where he ended as manager for PASS programs at the Valle Verde campus. Most recently he was Director of Tri-Student Support Services at New Mexico State University. He was a loving husband, caring father, wonderful son, brother and uncle. Left to cherish in his memory is his devoted wife of 25 years; Santiaga Alcantar, sons; Michaelangelo and Javier M. Alcantar, parents; Saul and Margarita Alcantar, brother; Armando Alcantar, sister; Marina Henson and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 4-9 pm with a Vigil at 7:30 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 12:30 pm on Monday, July 27, 2009 at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
