Janice Nadine Murphy, age 86, passed away after a short illness on Friday, March 27th in El Paso, TX. An only child, Janice was born January 19, 1934 in Cannel City, Kentucky, to Don and Madella Burton. She was a graduate of West Liberty High School in Kentucky, and later graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in business administration.
After graduating college, she married James Caudill and they had two children Karen (Caudill) Baker of Roland Park, KS and Jim Caudill, of Delray Beach, FL. At the age of 40 she joined the workforce and rising through the ranks ultimately reaching a prominent civilian management position at Ft. Bliss, TX. In this position she played a significant role collaborating with El Paso city government and Ft. Bliss to craft a compelling case for Ft. Bliss to secure additional resources, manpower and influence during strategic base realignment in the 1980s. Her efforts were formally recognized by the commanding General. Janice retired in 1996 and spent her retirement years enjoying she and Ron’s many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ron C Murphy, whom she married in 1981; her children, Karen Baker of Roland Park, KS, and Jim Caudill of Delray Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 stepchildren, and their 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
