Jane G. Woodyard

JANE G. WOODYARD, 82, passed away April 11, 2012 in El Paso . Born July 10, 1929 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She married Willard A. Woodyard in 1948, and they reported to US Army duty stations in Tokyo , Japan , Washington , DC , and Sandia Base , New Mexico . Upon retirement from the military in 1960, they chose to raise their family in El Paso , where she was active in the Episcopal Church, couture sewing, gourmet cooking and gracious entertaining. She worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block, managing the Northgate office, and later maintained a private tax preparation business for many years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, The Society of Daughters of the United States Army, and the “Merry Widows”. She is predeceased by her parents, Maj. Gen. Lewis S. Griffing and Elizabeth Angell Griffing, and her husband, Willard A. Woodyard. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lea and Brooks Magruder, her son and daughter-in-law: Lewis and Maureen Woodyard, all of El Paso ; and her two granddaughters, Molly Cooper (husband Austin Cooper), and Katherine Magruder. Her family acknowledges with gratitude Hospice El Paso and especially Corina Roddam. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 19 at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass. Graveside service will be 10:30 AM on Friday, April 20, at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with the Rev. Pat Elliott officiating.
