James Edgar Shelton

James E. Shelton was born in McAlester, Oklahoma on May 13, 1920. He joined his Grandfather, Grandmother and Mother and Father in Heaven at 7:05 AM, Nov26, 2012. He came to El Paso in 1938, where he was introduced to Angie. They were married in 1940 and had five sons and two daughters. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 72 years, Angie. He is also survived by his sons; James Jr, Thomas, Fred, John and Charles and daughters; Carolyn and Susan, his brother, Jerry Lane and sister, Elizabeth Niswonger along with twenty two grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Jim Shelton served in the European theatre during World War II. He was discharged in January of 1946. He worked for the Texas and Pacific Railroad before and after the war until his retirement as a conductor. He played baseball in the Texas League for the Juarez Indios in the 40’s and 50’s. He was a participant in the Pan American road races during the 50’s. He was a golfer and longtime member of the Vista Hills Country Club. Funeral Service’s will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 12:30 PM to be followed by Interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors at 1:30 PM. A reception, afterwards, will be held at the VFW, Post 8550 at 4714 Titanic. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to VFW, Post 8550.
