James E. Philpot

James Edward “Jimmy” Philpot, age 68, passed away March 2, 2019, in Chicago. A former longtime El Paso resident, Jimmy was a big guy with a big heart and a big smile, known for his sense of humor, his love of sports – especially watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers and playing golf with his friends – for being a loving and proud father, and for his room-brightening personality. Jimmy spent many years coaching and mentoring his son, James Jr., and other kids in Little League baseball in Northeast El Paso, eventually leading to the 2002 El Paso City Champion Northeast Heat. He worked many years for Sun City Delivery in El Paso before starting his own company, Custom Courier Service. He moved to Chicago in 2005 to work for Mahoney Express. He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. Philpot and Lillian Philpot, and by nephew Lucas X. Brady, all of El Paso. He is survived by his son, James Philpot Jr. of Pearland, Texas; sisters Marie Livingston and Mary “Dee” Nyhan of El Paso; sister Kathy Stoner and her husband Scott Stoner of Phoenix; brother Robert Philpot and wife Marilyn Bailey of Fort Worth; and nieces Veronica Philpot and Jenna Stoner of Phoenix. Celebration of Life will be at 2:00pm, April 07 at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Interment is private. There will also be a gathering to remember Jimmy at 5:00pm April 06 at Incredibles Bar and Lounge, 5011 Alabama Street Suite A. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
