James Robert Jordan III, 74, a proud veteran of the Army, passed away September 08, 2022, in El Paso, Texas. The son of James and Ilse (Spierling) Jordan, James was born on October 06, 1947, in Bremerhaven, Germany.
At the age of 18, James enlisted in the Army and proudly served for 27 ½ years. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of SGM. He had eight overseas tours including 4 tours in Vietnam, Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. He received many awards and medals while in the military among those to include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal 1st OLC, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal 9th AWD, Vietnam Service Medal w/5 Service Stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w Num 4, Army Service Ribbon, Over Seas Service Ribbon W/Num2, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars, Kuwait Liberation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and numerous other medals. After his military career, he did an additional 19 years of Federal Service at White Sands Missile Range with a combined total of 46 ½ years of service to his country.
James, also affectionately known as Jim, loved to spend time with his family, especially his wife, Thai. He loved to travel to Vietnam and other locales. He loved to read, bowl with family and friends, and work in his yard.
James was preceded in death by his father, James and his mother, Ilse. He is survived by Thai, his lovely wife 50 years; his daughters, Judy Willard and Jenny Stanley; his grandchildren, Christopher Jordan, Lance Willard, Natasha Stanley and Mykoel Stanley; his brothers, Ralf (Kathie), Charles, William (Patty) and Edward; and his sisters, Veronika Glindemann and Ilse Rumfelt; and numerous extended family members.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Prayer service to follow at 6:00pm on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast. Chapel Service will begin at 9:00am on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes- Northeast. Committal Service to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
