James Aloysius Jones

February 2, 1922 — February 9, 2013

James Aloysius Jones Born 02/02/1922 –Brooklyn, NY James A. Jones was called by God just after his 91st birthday on February 9, 2013. Growing up he was a boyscout & later became a boyscout leader. He served as a Lieutenant in the Navy from Nov. 1942 to June 1946. In WWII he flew the Grumman F4 Wildcat with his squadron (VC-91) on the aircraft carrier USS Kitkun Bay in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He spoke very little of the trauma he saw at war but remained close to his Navy buddies. “Jimmy” was the son of James & Margaret Jones. He initially graduated Brooklyn Tech, and after WWII he graduated from NYU, He was one of only two graduates selected from his graduating class to join Westinghouse where he spent most of his professional career in Sales & Management. After living in Pittsburg, PA, Buffalo, NY, Westfield, NJ & Wilbraham, MA, Jimmy relocated in 1972 to El Paso & assisted with the start up of a new Westinghouse manufacturing facility in Juarez, Mexico. Jimmy was very active in the El Paso community including his service & contribution to Queen of Peace Church. For several years Jimmy assisted Father Gaul in providing communion and emotional support to patients at Providence Hospital. Along with his commitment to others, he loved all sports—especially golf—and the University of Notre Dame. The list of all who benefited from his generosity, kindness and his achievements in life are too long to list. Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Eileen (the love of his life), their four children Eileen, Christine, Jimmy, and Eddie, along with their spouses, Ingvar, Munir, Ann, and Elia. Jimmy had 11 grandchildren & four great-grandchildren. Jimmy was a wonderful man of strong belief & conviction. As with all of us, he strove all his life to be the best son, husband, father and friend he could be. All that know and love him will miss him deeply but rejoice that he is now with the Lord and with his mother, dad, sister and so many other loved ones that passed before him. God Bless him! Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm, Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with Vigil at 7:00 pm.
