James Vernon Gibson, Jr., age 65, a longtime resident of El Paso, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 after a long illness. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Jim retired from Kmart after 35 years, to attend to his health issues and to pursue some of his passions. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan who loved traveling, working out at the gym, and playing cards with friends. He was a patriotic, honorable man who loved his country and enthusiastically shared his political views whenever given the opportunity. Most of all Jim enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren: Jasmin, Jordan, and Grayson Gibson.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Schaub Gibson. He is survived by his father, James Vernon Gibson, Sr.; his wife Barbara Posluszny Gibson; his sons Jonathan Gibson and Christopher Gibson; sister Sandra Hughes (Thomas), brother Timothy Gibson (Bridget) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home - West, 480 N.
