James Patrick Connor

June 29, 1929 — September 10, 2012

James Patrick Connor has completed his honorable tour of duty within the confines of this precious earth and has now journeyed home to dwell with the divine Trinity. Jim, as he was known to most, was preceded in death by his parents Florence and Catherine Connor, his twin sister Helen, and wife Lucille. He is survived by his sister Barbara Hynes and her spouse Sean of Boston; children Cathe Lester, Leslie Canada and husband Rick; seven grandchildren-Shane Canada and wife Araceli, Ashlee Canada, Leah Thurman, Jay Canada, Laura Wurster and husband Justin; seven great grandchildren-Aidan, Cyrus, Mackenzie, Delainey, Daniel, Isabella, and Naomi. During his tour of duty he served in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. He was the recipient of numerous awards to include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Korean defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, republic of Vietnam campaign Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Jim was the Security Supervisor for the Baptist Memorial Hospitals in San Antonio for 17 years and retired to return to El Paso. Jim volunteered numerous hours to the El Paso Police Department dedicating himself to the officers selflessly. Pallbearers: Shane Canada, Justin Wurster, Justin C’de Baca, Frank Hernandez, Henry Slack, Christine Saiz, and Laura Wurster will honor him during his services. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM on Thursday September 13, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM. Scripture Service will begin at 10:00 AM Friday September 14, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. A Committal Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday September 14 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Funeral Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
