James Russell Ayton

August 7, 1932 — December 13, 2010

James passed away on Monday morning, December 13th, 2010. Better known as Jim to his friends and Sonny to his family, he went quickly and mercifully after a short battle with Lung Cancer. He only has his sister, Sis Siebel left from his original large family. Also left behind are one Step-daughter and four Step-sons – Debbie, Chuck, Bobby, Jimmy and Mike. He always felt that each was as close to him as if they were actually his own. This family gave him thirteen grand children - Melissa, Brandon, Hayley, Zachary, Steven, Matthew, Danielle, James, Emilie, Kaylee, Colton, Matt and Whitney. They, in turn, provided five Great-Grandchildren – Trevor, Austin, Savannah, Payton and Stephanie. He grew up in Beltsville, Maryland. Jim was a Veteran of Korea and served proudly during that time in the US Army. He retired after a long career as a long haul driver. Spending most of his last years with his wife in El Paso, he move near one of his sons in the Fort Worth area after the passing of his wife, Shirley in 2004. He will be best known as a person who never met a stranger. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast with a Funeral Service to begin at 6:00 pm. Committal Service will be at 9:30 am, Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Interment will follow to Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
