James H. Allen

James H. Allen, 74 passed away early Saturday morning, February 23, 2008 after a long illness. He was an avid fishermen and a passionate Washington Redskin fan. He was born in Pence Springs, WV on April 1, 1933 and graduated from high school in Greenville, WV in 1951. He served in the US Army as a CPL, followed by four years in the US Navy, on the USS CANBERRA. Shortly after serving his country, he moved to Maryland, where he worked and retired from Volkswagen of America. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenison and Rosa. Brothers Robert Allen, Bill Allen, Homer Allen and Elmer Reed. He is survived by his son, Gregory Allen of El Paso, TX, where he spent his last months along with daughter-in-law Shavonna, grandsons Brandon and Marcus. He is also survived by brothers Lewis Allen of Alderson, WV, Sidney Allen of Beckley, WV, sisters Mary Rudisill of Pence Springs, WV and Elizabeth Bowyer of Oak Hill, WV, along with many nieces and nephews. A real special thanks to all of the caregivers over the past year of his illness. A graveside service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 9:30 am.
