Jacquelin "Jackie" Blandin Brock

August 29, 1925 — May 23, 2008

Jacquelin (Jackie) Blandin Brock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered into the presence of her Lord on May 23, 2008. Mrs. Brock was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on August 29, 1925. She was preceded by her parents George W. Blandin and Vasta Garner Blandin, and sister Chris Blandin Proctor and her husband W.C. (Bill) Proctor, all of Wichita Falls. Jackie attended the University of Texas at Austin where she pledged Alpha Chi Omega sorority, was active in campus politics, was a member of the social club “Spooks”, and each year was voted among the ten most beautiful girls on campus. She received a degree in clothing and costume design in 1945. Jackie met her first husband Robert lee Butchofsky, during her university days and they married shortly after her graduation. A long-time resident of El Paso, Mrs. Brock was owner of Jackie’s, an upscale women’s clothing store in Kern Plaza. Well known for her compassion, she was active in her support of charitable causes, especially cerebral palsey, and was generous in her aid to local institutions such as Providence Memorial Hospital, Thomason Memorial Hospital, and the Episcopal Church. More recently her philanthropic attention had been devoted to organizations seeking an end to blindness and children’s diseases. In 1983, Jackie married her former high school sweetheart, Len Edward Brock, in an Episcopal ceremony in El Paso. They were happily married and lived in Denver and San Diego before returning to El Paso in the late 1990s. The Brocks enjoyed traveling--sampling foreign cultures and cuisine--and did so extensively until Len’s death in 2004. Jackie is survived by her son Robert Butchofsky II and wife Kate of West Vancouver, BC, Canada, and her daughter Jan Butchofsky-Houser and husband Dave of Nogal, NM. Brock family survivors include step-daughter Linda Brock McCoy and husband Raymond of Wichita Falls, step-daughter Leigh Brock Tomforde and husband Jim of Houston, TX. Grandchildren include Kathryn and Bobby Butchofsky, Kellie McCoy Wostal, Keri McCoy Montz and Staley and Lucy Tomforde. Also surviving is great grand-daughter Presley Montz and a number of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families in both Texas and Canada. Jackie also will be missed by her loving Bichons “Gigi” and “Baby”. Mrs. Brock leaves a note of special thanks to Dr. Branch Craig of El Paso and all the staff of Monte Vista at Coronado where she lived her last years in the company of good friends and capable care-givers. A special thanks to Hospice of El Paso for their loving support. Graveside Service will be held at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 11:00 am., Father King of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to your selected charity. Jackie’s Inspirational Quote: “I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.” Edward Everett Hale
