Jack Donald Anderson, age 98, of Azle, TX went to meet the Lord January 9, 2017.
Jack was born October 10, 1918 in Hastings, West Virginia. He married Iris Gwendolyn Lightner, December 1, 1941. Jack enlisted in the US Army July 5, 1941 and served as a driver with the 16th EVAC Hospital unit in Italy and North Africa. He received an Honorable Discharge September 27, 1945.
Jack and Iris lived in West Virginia until 1962 when they relocated to El Paso, TX where Jack was employed by L & K Sheet Metal as a refrigeration installer and repairman until retirement. Jack relocated to Azle, Texas in 2009 where he loved woodworking in his shop, fishing, taking care of his lawn and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris; parents, Leslie and Eugenia; sister Mary Higgins; brothers Edwin, Herman, Walter, Robert, and James; grandson, Roy Hamill.
Survivors include daughters, Beverly Hamill (husband Dan) of Silver City, NM and Mary Robertson (husband Dick) of Azle, Texas; grandchildren, Glen Hamill of Orange CT, Paul Robertson of Arlington TX, Stacey Bond of Weatherford, TX, Rebecca Hamill of Cheyenne WY, Deborah Torrance of NC, Daniel Hamill of Springlake NC; great-grandchildren Hollis and Greyson Bond, Morgan Hamill, Garrett and Jackie Long, Deborah and Danielle Hamill, Dorian and Aaron Torrance, Travis and Josh Bean.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Service will be said on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, a military graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.
