Ivory O. Levias went home to be with the Lord on October 8th, 2008. She succumbed to her battle with lung cancer at WBAMC in El Paso, Texas. She was 71 at the time of her death.
Ivory was born on June 13th, 1937 in New Orleans, LA. Her parents were the deceased Jesse and Melvina Thompson. Her brothers were Jesse, Howard, Leroy, Milton, and Warren Thompson. All Deceased. Her sisters were Pearl Fine and Estelle Thompson, both deceased. She is survived by one brother, Jesse Thompson III. Her husband, Louis E. Levias of El Paso, TX; her son, Darrell L. Levias of Sacramento, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of Walter M. Cohen High School in New Orleans, LA. While at Cohen, she was star athlete in basketball, track, and volleyball. Mrs. Levias was a member of the United States Air Force. She worked for the Fort Bliss Education Center as an office clerk before retirement in 1995. A lifelong seamstress, who made all of her own clothes, as well as, clothes for various friends and relatives. An avid bowler and terrific cook in the Louisiana Creole tradition. Mrs. Levias was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church of El Paso, TX; where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a good and faithful servant who always put God first and inspired others with her faith and strength. She is a true proverbs 31 woman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, 4601 Maxwell Ave. Interment will be private.
