Isabel Ester Lopez

Isabel E. Lopez, loving wife and mother, passed away on February 29, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Born on September 13, 1935 in Gibson, New Mexico, she was raised in the Buena Vista neighborhood of El Paso until the age of 12 when she moved to Los Angeles, California. Isabel graduated for Our Lady of Loretto Catholic High School and in 1955 married Emilio A. Lopez. After raising her children, she returned to college and worked for the Little Lake School District as an elementary school teacher aide and secretary. She was active for 40 years in her parish, St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Santa Fe Springs, California. After discovering her illness, Isabel and her husband moved from Norwalk, California to El Paso in 2005.An accomplished cook, Isabel enjoyed having family gatherings and had an extensive cookbook collection. Isabel is survived by her husband of 53 years, Emilio (Mickey) and their two children: Carmel Lopez-Lampton (Robert) of Jackson, Mississippi and Tom Lopez (Irma) of Whittier, California; two granddaughters: Isabel A. Lampton of Charlotteville, Virginia AND Mary Mikell Lampton of Jackson,Mississippi; sisters and brother: Carmen (Lupe) Aguilar and Ramiro (Patsy) Escandon of El Paso, Texas, Socorro Escandon of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Maria Elena Rendon of Torrance, California; cousin: Maria de Los Angeles Martinez of El Paso, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews who she held in great affection. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008 from 6 to 9 pm., at Sunset Funeral Home- West. Vigil will be Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home –West. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM., Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Santa Teresita Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley in Santa Teresa, New Mexico. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes West.
