Irma F. Barrett

Irma Fernandez Barrett’s life journey on this earth ended on August 3,2009, at the age of 62, while surrounded by a loving family and friends. She was born on September 18, 1946 and was a lifelong resident of El Paso. She was a member of the Austin High School class of 1966 and graduated from UTEP with a Bachelors Degree in Art and a minor in Education. She recently retired after 18 years of service, from the El Paso Independent School District, where she was an art teacher for 9 years at Austin High School. She is followed in death by her father Roberto Fernandez. She is survived by her mother, Juanita San Roman Fernandez; husband of 39 years, William F. Barrett, Sr.; her children, William F. Barrett, Jr. and his wife Alejandra, Roxanne Denise Barrett, and Claudette Carpenter and her husband, Joe, her grandchildren, Claudette Rae Fraire, William Andrew “Andy” Barrett, and Jessica Alejandra Barrett. Irma leaves her family and friends with a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter, wisdom, and creativity. The visitation for Mrs. Barrett is on August 9, 2009, from 4-9p.m., with the rosary starting at 7p.m., at Sunset Funeral Homes, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas 79912 (915) 587-4408. The Memorial Mass will be held on August 10, 2009, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Ave., El Paso, TX 79903, (915) 566-9396. The interment will take place at 11 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd., Fort Bliss, Texas 79906, (915) 564-0201. Pallbearers are as follows: William F. Barrett Jr., Robert A. Fernandez, Charles Davis Jr., Dan Magathan, Antonio F. San Roman, Gabriel San Roman, John Widas, and Frank Yost. Honorary pallbearers are Armando San Roman & William Andrew “Andy” Barrett. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
