Irene Fernandez Lucero

Irene Fernandez Lucero, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017. Irene was born in El Paso, TX on February 21, 1953. She attended Ysleta High School where she was a member of the "Groovies". After she graduated in 1971, she married her first husband Jose Madrid and had two daughters; Monica and Jo Jennifer Madrid. Later in life she married her husband of 29 years Ricardo Lucero. Irene worked for Sun Drugs/Coleman Pharmacy as a pharmacist technician and stayed there until she retired after 30 years. She enjoyed music and loved to dance. She cherished the time spent with family watching movies on the big screen and movie nights at home. Irene is proceeded in death by her parents: Baltazar and Concepcion Fernandez; and brothers, Baltazar Fernandez Jr. and Enrique Fernandez. She leaves behind siblings: Concepcion Lebrado, Margarita Fernandez, Selma Adams, Enriqueta Fernandez, Elizabeth Fernandez (twin sister), Peter Fernandez and Maria Patricia Fernandez; husband, Ricardo Lucero; daughters, Monica Marquez and Jo Jennifer Madrid-Chabre; grandchildren: Onyka Armendariz, Dylan De La Pena, Bianca Anaya, Rebekah Garcia, Caden Garcia, and Zachariah Chabre; great grandchildren: Kai Benbrook, Jeremiah Anaya, and Isabella Gutierrez. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-9:00 PM, with a VIgil/Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 AM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Little Flower Catholic Church, 171 Polo Inn Rd. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
