Ignacio A. Loera, 82, entered into the hand of the Lord on Tuesday January 2nd, 2024
Nacho, as he was fondly known, was born in El Paso, Texas on July 31st, 1941. He honorably served his country in the U.S Army from November 1963-1965. He began his career working in Civil service for the U.S. Army at Stallion Site Socorro, NM then transferred to White Sands Missile Range where he worked for 30 years until his retirement.
He was a very proud family man who had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed sharing his love for fishing, hunting, and camping with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He found great joy in attending the many activities his children and grandchildren excelled in, from sports to the arts.
He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus which he served for many years in Socorro and Las Cruces, NM.
Nacho is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Celia Loera and siblings Jose Loera Jr. and Lidia Loera Martinez. He leaves behind his long-time companion Virginia Meza, his sons Ignacio Loera Jr. (Rosie), Sergio Loera (Yvonne), Fernando Loera (Lorena), his daughters Suzanne Loera and Diane Acosta (Jaime), his grandchildren Genevieve Gomez (Isaac), Janelle Woodfield (Kellen), Ignacio Adrian Loera, Joshua Loera, Gary Ray Misquez (Victoria), Andres S. Loera, Catarina Acosta, David S. Loera, Daniel E. Loera, Celinda Acosta-Soto (Anthony), Fernando A. Loera, his great grandchildren Isaac Gomez, Chris Gomez, Makayla Gomez, Mackenzie Woodfield, Kellen Woodfield Jr., Joaquin Tovar, Arianna Misquez, Ricardo Misquez and Derek Roybal, his siblings Alfredo Loera, Alfonso Loera, Gabriel Loera, Stella Velasco, Robert Loera, and many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm with a rosary starting at 6:00pm on Monday, January 15th, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday January 16th, 2024, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette Ave. El Paso Texas 79907. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery 401 S. Zaragoza Rd. El Paso Texas 79907.
He will be buried with military honors.
