Hortencia Chairez

Hortencia Chairez, 87, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012. From the humblest beginnings, our mother arose to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable horrors of her childhood to give us, a brilliant example of faith, love and tenacity. From such a dire childhood, she forged such an indomitable spirit that we marvel at how she could have shown so much affection, in many ways and how she could revel at the sunrise and all of nature’s beauty, or to rigorously become a learned woman. Thank you God, for giving us a mother, who gave us such a light, to all our dark corners. Mrs. Chairez was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; Felicito and Maria, husband; Filiberto Chairez Sr. and daughter; Alicia Chairez. Her survivors include, sons; Filiberto Jr., Robert, Javier and David Chairez, daughter; Maria Villa, 14 grandchildren including Joshua and Jacob Scott, sisters; Amalia, Delia, Rosa, and Bertha. Visitation and vigil were held on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Friday, January 13, 2012 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
