Hortencia Cadena "Tenchi" passed away on May 12, 2007. She was born on May 2, 1928 in Alpine, Texas where she met and married her childhood sweetheart Cosme. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents Roman and Francisca Gonzales; brother, Roman Gonzales; two sisters, Elva Gallegos and Faviola Gonzales; twin daughters, Carmen and Christina Cadena; and two sons, Mayo E. Cadena, Sr. and Mayo E. Cadena, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Cosme of 61 years, daughters; Mary Frances Portillo (her husband Gustavo), Oralia Cadena, Sylvia H. Farmer, Efren D. and Graciela E. Cadena; sons, Cosme G. Cadena, Jr., Roman L., and James M. Cadena; granddaughters, Priscilla J. Tolson (her husband Tony), Hortencia C. Chavarria (her husband Daniel), and Stephanie C. Cadena Fritz; grandsons, Kurt G. and Jerome E. Portillo, Christopher M. Farmer, Rene A. Cadena (wife Brenda), and Nicholas M. Farmer ( wife Elizabeth); great-grandson Marc J. Chavarria; great-granddaughters, Rachel D. Chavarria and Crystal M. Farmer. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her third great-granddaughter Kaylynn Elise Farmer. She was dearly loved by her extended family, which includes aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends that she loved like her own. Pallbearers will be: Kurt G. Portillo, Jerome E. Portillo, Christopher M. Farmer, Rene A. Cadena, Nicholas M. Farmer, Marc A. Chavarria, Salvador Gallardo, and David Carrillo. Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast on 4631 Hondo Pass. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 9:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home- Northeast. Interment will follow at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery . Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
