Homer Adcox,

November 3, 1927 — June 20, 2007

HOMER ADCOX JR, 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 surrounded by the family he loved. “Papa” joins his heavenly Father in heaven and his loving wife of 47 years, Mary, whom he missed everyday since her passing in 2003. He was a man with an easy smile, simple pleasures, and a quick witted humor. He taught his children the importance of honesty and integrity and especially being “a man of your word.” Our dad was an exceptionally devoted and loving dad and grandfather who let us know how proud he was of each and everyone of us. He was a great source of strength for our family and was always there when we needed him. He loved our country and was so very proud to have served his country in Korea, and two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post #8919, and truly enjoyed his many friends that he shared over the last 42 years. Homer will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, infant daughter; Jamie Lynn, parents, James Homer and Rhea Adcox., and his brother Russell. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Elrod (Scott), sons; William (Angela), James (Mercedes), Kenith (Leticia). His 11 grandchildren, Gustin, Brandon, and Triston Elrod, James, Bradley, and Andrew Adcox, Ashley, Tiffany, Courtney, Brittany, and Candace Adcox. He is also survived by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24,2007 at Sunset Funeral Home NE, 4631 Hondo Pass, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a “celebration of life” service at 7 pm. Funeral service will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m at Vista New Life Church, 4700 Leeds, with Pastor Tom Wilkins officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery immediately following the service. The family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Watson for his wonderful care of our father and for his compassion and sensitivity to the family during this difficult time. We also wish to thank the nurses in ICU at Sierra Medical Center . The family wishes to give an extra special thank you to Romie for her dedication, care, and love she gave to our dad as his caregiver and most importantly, his friend. She will have our gratitude forever. Pallbearers will be Gustin, Brandon, and Triston Elrod, James and Bradley Adcox and Tiffany Adcox. Dad loved to be surrounded by friends and family, therefore his family wishes to invite all his friends to his home immediately following the funeral.
