Hubbard Lee Dorsey was born on June 19, 1948 to his mother Daisy Lee Crayton in Salem, Alabama. On Tuesday March 22, 2011 he was called home to be with the Lord at age 62. He was raised by his grandmother Ethel Dorsey and grew up with his two brothers, sister, and several cousins. He attended Ebenezer Baptist Church and graduated from Wacoohee High School in Salem, Alabama. He joined the military in April 1968, during his service he worked as a supply clerk. He served in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ Device, Sharpshooter Rifle, and Vietnam Service Medal w/ 4 Bronze Service Stars. While in the military he was stationed at Fort Bliss which is what brought him to El Paso, TX. Following his military career he worked for Phelps Dodge Copper Refinery and attended El Paso Community College. He then went on to work for BNSF Railroad in 1974 as a conductor and continued to do so until his death. He was married to his soul mate Carmaletta Dorsey in June 1990. His “Essie” was the true love of his life. He was a very hardworking man, an avid fisherman, a true green thumb and worked both in his yard and garden where he loved planting greens. On his down time he patronized his “favorite place” Sunland Park Racetrack and listened to the Isley Brothers. One song that made him smile was “For the Love of You”. He loved driving cross country and he always looked forward to the Dorsey-Drain family reunion. He was a true family man and believed in loving one another. He also supported and would attend The Rock Faith Center. Left to cherish his priceless memory is his beloved wife, Carmaletta Dorsey; his daughters: Yaisa D. Hallback (Eric Sr), Kimberly Dorsey; sons: Terry Golden, Isaac Golden and Terrell Kilmer; mother, Daisy Lee Crayton; sister, Dianne Rivers; brothers: Jackie Dowell, and James Dowell; and many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
