Hildegard Emma Hiney

Hildegard Emma (Gundlach) Hiney, a resident of El Paso for 35 years, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2008. She was born May 23, 1936 to Karl and Ida Gundlach in Nienburg-Weser, Germany. Hilde met her husband, Stewart, at a Schutzenfest dance in 1956 while he was stationed in Germany in the British Army. They married in Nienburg on October 3, 1961 and they lived in England for 11 years before moving to El Paso in 1973 where they remained for the rest of her life. Hilde was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ernst. She is survived by her devoted husband, daughters Maria Pace and Joanne Ginther, and granddaughters Heather Pace, Lindsey Pace, Lauren Pace, and Jaydn Ginther, as well as numerous relatives and dear friends around the world. Hilde was a state champion swimmer in Niedersachsen, Germany, who loved to bowl, play bridge, sew, crochet, and do other handicrafts. She will be missed by all and remembered as a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Memorial service will be held at 9:00 am, Monday, December 29, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Susan G.
