Herminia Cyrus

December 21, 1935 — March 8, 2009

On March 8, 2009, Mrs. Herminia Cyrus was called by the Lord to be reunited with her beloved husband, Roy C. Cyrus. Mrs. Herminia Cyrus was born on December 21, 1935 in Mexico. She retired from Rosa Guerrero Elementary School in 2000, where she was a food service manager for 21 years. She also worked at the Fort Bliss P.X./clothing store as a sales associate. Recently she devoted her time as a volunteer for the Wellington Chew Senior Center. Mrs. Herminia Cyrus was a loving person that touched the lives of many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Chavarria and Petra N. Ramos, sister, Estella Holguin and beloved husband, Roy C. Cyrus. Mrs. Herminia Cyrus is survived by her sister, Rafaela Hernandez, her two brothers, Juan Ramos and Cruz Ramos, two sons, Guillermo Collazo and Daniel (Lourdes) Collaso of Brownsville, TX., and daughter, Josephine (Tim) Shay of Muscatine, Iowa. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous relatives. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 am, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass: will be at 9:45 am, Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
