Hermenegilda Caigoy

April 10, 1912 — October 13, 2012

Rejoice and be glad! On October 13, 2012, Hermenegilda Caigoy lovingly known as ‘Hilda’ and ‘Mening’ among her friends, after one hundred years of earthly life went to her new home to be with her Lord. Hilda was born on April 10, 1912 in Buga Leon, Panay Island of the Philippines. After surviving WWII, her husband was transferred to the United States in July 1950. They settled in El Paso, Texas in 1955. She was among the first parishioners of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church founded in the late 1950’s and became active in the Catholic Daughters of America - Santa Barbara Court; the Rosary Altar Society and the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was also a founding member the El Paso Filipino-American Association. She will be remembered for her undying faith, her inspirational courage, her strength in character and her love for a good time. But most of all for the nurturing love she bestowed freely to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pablo; her son Medardo and his wife Kathy; and great- grand-daughter, Faith Ymzon. She is survived by her loving children: sons, Reynald (Sylvia) Caigoy; Paul (Margo) Caigoy; Thomas (Diane) Caigoy and daughters, MaryAnne (Nugent) Robinson; Josephine Caigoy. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren: Tracey (Russ) Golden with Connor; Chami (Tony) Garver with Drew, Samantha and Seth; LorAnn (Chris) Hodge with Allyson, Zane, Madelyn and Cade; Rey J Caigoy; Marissa (Lawrence) Banzon with Maliya and Micah; Kivi (Jim) Koeppe with Chloe and Max; Lexi (Kory) Pippin with Eli, Evan and Easton; Chuck Robinson; Anne-Marye (Damian) Ymzon with Grace, Cecilia, Xavier and Issac; Doug (Stacie) Robinson with Devin, Miya and Colin; Melissa Caigoy and Rosemarie Caigoy. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7pm, Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 1:30pm, Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
