Hermelinda R. (Linda) Hernandez passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2025, at the age of 93, entering the loving arms of Jesus.A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda was a lifelong resident of El Paso, where she was born and raised. She dedicated her life to her family, cherishing every moment spent caring for, hosting, entertaining, and cooking for those she loved. Family was everything to Linda, and she created a home filled with love, warmth, and tradition. She shared an extraordinary love story with her beloved husband, Adam Hernandez, and together they built a life full of faith, laughter, love, and unwavering devotion. They were one week shy of celebrating their 71st wedding anniversary, a testament to their deep bond. At every family meal, Linda always sat at the head of the table, with Adam forever at her right—a simple yet beautiful reflection of their lifelong partnership. Their love served as the foundation of their family, and their constant presence together provided a comforting constant in the lives of those who knew them.Linda’s passion for cooking was one of the many ways she expressed her love. Every holiday and gathering was centered around her incredible meals, but nothing was more special than her tamales at Christmas—a tradition that brought the entire family together. Her kitchen was a place of joy, where stories were shared, laughter filled the air, and everyone left with full hearts.Beyond cooking, Linda had a deep love for music and singing. Whether humming a tune while preparing a meal or humming along to a classic, her voice was a source of comfort and happiness for those blessed to hear her. Music brought her joy, and she passed that love on to those around her.A devout Catholic, Linda was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she volunteered tirelessly. She served on the Women’s Council which furthered her passion for helping others. Her faith was the guiding light of her life, and she lived with a heart full of grace and kindness. For over a decade, she hosted Wednesday Bible study, welcoming friends and family into her home to pray, reflect, and grow in faith together.Linda’s compassionate nature extended beyond her home and church, however. She was a dedicated volunteer, giving her time to Meals on Wheels, ensuring that those in need received not just food but kindness and companionship. She was also deeply involved in her children’s lives, serving as a room mother for each of them, organizing bake sales, volunteering for school events, and driving her sons to athletic activities with enthusiasm and love. She is survived by her husband, Adam Hernandez, and their five children: Terry, Alice, Albert (Lola), Adam Jr. (Gina), and Victor (Norma) Hernandez. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Liza, Victor Jr. (Cristy), Bryan (Daniela) Hernandez; Michael, Valerie, and Danielle Hernandez; Tialana (Dacotah) Watts, and Shania Hernandez. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Haylee, Kaytlynn, Andruw Hernandez; Matthew, Luke, and Emma Watts; and Auriah Hernandez.Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Josefina Rincon Lozano, Raul Lozano.
Linda’s love, faith, and warmth will be deeply missed but forever cherished. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the meals she lovingly prepared, the songs she sang, and the family she adored.
