HELEN SWEENEY entered into the hands of her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born March 27, 1933, to Frank and Leda Deveau in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Jesus Mary Academy and was offered a scholarship from Julliard School of Music for her extraordinary singing voice. She went on to be an Army spouse, winning numerous awards and worked for David Light and Company for over 25 years. She enjoyed traveling the world, which she often did with her best friend of over 83 years! She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Norman, Yvonne and Noella, spouses Ed Sweeney and Ken Houston, her beloved son Michael and grandson Josh. Helen is survived by her loving sons Edward F. and Douglas J., and daughters-in-law, Bertha Sweeney, and Isis Gutierrez Sweeney. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends that are left to cherish her memory. She will be missed by all who knew her, as she was a loving person, spouse, friend, grandmother, great-grandmother, and exceptional mother. The family is saddened by their loss but know that she is singing once again with the Lord and all that preceded her in death! A time of gathering will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with family remembrances from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM and Memorial Service to begin at 1:30 PM at Sunset Funeral Home-West. In lieu of flowers, Helen would have wanted donations made to the El Paso Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
