Helen B. Lancelin

March 7, 1947 — May 7, 2011

Helen Lancelin graced this world on March 7, 1947 in Leesville, Louisiana a result of the marriage of David Dean and Lena Copeland Ford. On May 5, 1972 she married Justice Charles Lancelin of Baldwin, Louisiana. Together they raised two children, Sheneatha Lancelin and Jarvin Lancelin. They were blessed with 9 beautiful grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Her husband departed to rest on September 21, 2004. He was missed greatly by his wife. Helen retired after over 25 years of dedicated civil service work at WBAMC. In addition to being a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a friend, Helen loved church. At her sickest moments she made God and church her priority. God granted her 3 years beyond the doctors prognosis. Her faith inspired a great amount of people. Her home church was Destiny Family Christian Center. She was raised COGIC until she became a member at Destiny 11 years ago. Helen loved to eat sea food; her favorite place to eat was Sunland Park Casino on Fridays where they have an all you can east seafood buffet. She often reminisced of home in Louisiana. Although terminally ill and in severe pain she was determined to drive with her daughters Sheneatha Lancelin and Elizabeth Olivas back home, an 18 hour drive across Texas. She passed away in the arms of the one she called her daughter Elizabeth Olivas on May 7, 2011. She was able to see her Mother’s Day plant and balloons, and the beautiful layout of the Mother’s Day lunch in which she and Liz were prepared to partake. She smiled as if to say, “I know where I’m going, I can see my husband. Let me rest in God’s hands for I am tired.”
