Helen Baskin Griffin, a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother was born on December 7, 1931 in DeKalb, Mississippi, the second child of Willie Baskin and Inie Jack Baskin. Helen’s journey took her to Florida and ultimately to El Paso, Texas where she raised her children and married James Griffin.
Helen had many wonderful gifts and hobbies including cooking and gardening. No one could grow flowers, plants and vegetables like Helen! She also loved to watch all types of sports and could often be found enjoying basketball, football and baseball games on television, with one of her favorite sports teams being the Dallas Cowboys (but of course!). Lastly, she was always trying to lend a helping hand to her friends and family. She would thoughtfully send out cards, visit, and share her gardening bounty with others. She was vibrant and on the move always, even well into her late eighties and, as a Christian by faith, she would often thank “the Good Lord” for her many blessings.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Baskin and Inie Jack Baskin, her husband James Griffin, her siblings Lucile, WB, Lamar and Inie Jane, and her twin children Billie and Billy. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children (Sandra Crosby, Yvette Rene Collins, Homer Pinkney, Perry Pinkney, Eddie Pinkney), grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and numerous friends and family who were blessed to have known her.
