Helen Claire Jansen Davis passed away October 26, 2021 in El Paso, Texas at age 99. A resident of El Paso since 1955, Helen was born in Minnesota, was Valedictorian of her high school class in 1939, was a graduate of St John’s School of Nursing in Fargo, ND in 1944, and a Captain in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps serving from 1944 through 1951. Helen was a RN for over 15 years serving both in the U.S. Army and in El Paso. Helen was a member of the El Paso Archaeological Society for over 60 years, the Texas Archeology Society, The El Paso Corral of the Westerners, Texas Association of Registered Nurses, RSVP and a charter member of both the Women in Military Service for America Memorial and the WWII Veteran’s Memorial. Helen enjoyed a lifetime interest in music, history, the arts, archaeology and gardening. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Davis, and son, Robert L Davis, her parents Joseph Anton and Anna Reding Jansen and four siblings, Gertrude, Cecelia, Josephine and Leo. Survivors include her daughter Jan Davis Kuenzli (Kenneth) of Phoenix, Arizona, grandson Stephen (Jennifer) Kuenzli and William (4) and Grace Helen (6 months) of Chandler, Arizona and granddaughter Jessica Kuenzli Jones (Matthew) and Jacquelyn (14), Timothy (10) and Zachary Thomas (2 months) of Peoria, Arizona. Burial will be at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors on April 28, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast. Helen was loved, admired and respected by many people and she touched many lives. Memorials may be made in her honor to the El Paso Archaeological Society PO Box 4345 El Paso, TX 79914-4345
