Hector Raul Venegas

Hector Raul Venegas, age 81, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1959, received a BA from Texas Western College in 1963 where he was President of his fraternity, and later went on to receive his MBA from UTEP. He was a Lieutenant in the US Navy, retired from the Texas Employment Commission and was a professor of economics at El Paso Community College. He was a big supporter of the Osher Lifelong Learning institute at UTEP where he spent many hours attending classes and meeting friends.

He was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. Hector is preceded in death by his loving parents; Jose Venegas and Esther Meraz; his beloved wife; Raquel Olivia Venegas and his sister; Lilia Barela. He is survived by his dearest children; David Anthony Venegas and Diana Marisa Waddell; his loving grandchildren; Raquel Shotts, Marco Arellano, Noah Waddell, Amanda Venegas and Victoria Venegas; and his wonderful great-grandchildren; Stella Shotts and Gregory Shotts. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.

A Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home- West with a Holy Rosary to follow at 12:00 pm and a Funeral Service at 12:30 pm. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
