Hector M. Rivera, age 40, passed away on Thursday June 13, 2024.
Hector was born in El Paso, Texas on October 1, 1983 and graduated from Canutillo High School in 2004.
In his youth, Hector proudly participated in the Special Olympics, earning a first-place medal in running,
as well as an additional medal in the shot-put event.
Later in life, Hector realized his passion for law enforcement. He was granted the opportunity to do a
ride along with the Pullman Washington Police Department, where he was inducted as an honorary First
Class Officer with the CECPD. Hector’s hobbies included collecting baseball cards, following professional
wrestling, listening to music, dancing, and playing video games. Hector was known as a lover of life and
enjoyed meeting new people. He was known for his loving personality and the care he gave to everyone
he came into contact with. Hector truly touched the lives of all who had the pleasure to know him and
will be missed greatly.
Hector leaves behind his loving mother Ida Cajigas, his three brothers, Santiago Counts and wife
Amanda, Manuel Rivera, and Leonardo Rivera and wife Lindsey, as well as his Aunt Norma Penland,
Uncle Guillermo Cajigas, and Aunt Vilma Cajigas, as well as many other loving family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Hector will be held Saturday July 6, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Ascarate Park-Picnic
