Harold W. Lauver (Hal), age 93, passed away on February 16, 2008, while a resident of Desert Springs Alzheimer’s Special Care Center. The son of Ammom Moyer Lauver and Caroline Tate Lauver, he was born on November 7, 1914 in Altoona, PA. Harold served in the United States Army Military Police in Honolulu, Hawaii, before entering the Border Patrol School at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was recalled to the army in 1941 and served as an Officer in the Military Police in the European Theater until the war ended in 1945. Harold returned to the Border Patrol in El Paso, and later transferred to the Immigration and Naturalization Service as an Investigator. He retired from the I.N.S. as Officer in Charge of the Indiana Office.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen Ribble Lauver (El Paso), his daughter Caroline Lauver Disney and son-in-law Don Disney, (El Paso) son Richard A. Lauver(Maryland), sister Elizabeth Lauver Stiffler and niece Nan S. Britton (Indiana), granddaughter Cara R. Stockham (Maryland) and grandson Andrew C. Stockham and wife Jessica A. Stockham (Alabama).
Graveside Service will be at 9 am on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Border Patrol Museum, 4315 Transmountain Road, El Paso, TX 79924, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4400 North Mesa, Suite 9, El Paso Texas 79902.
