Harold Lee Goslin

June 8, 1930 — February 12, 2009

Harold Goslin passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2009, in El Paso, Texas, after a courageous battle with a broken hip and other health issues. He was born on June 8, 1930, in Clinton, Mo., the son of Laura May Wright Goslin and Henry Allen Goslin. He attended Clinton public schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. He joined the U.S. Air Force following high school and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean War. After the war, Harold moved to El Paso to take a job as an electronics instructor for RCA. He joined Raytheon as a missile instructor and later was named an electronics field engineer. It was while working in El Paso that Harold met Amelia Torres, and the two were married on June 21, 1958. For the next several years, Harold and Amelia moved a number of times as a result of Harold’s Raytheon assignments in Massachusetts, Alabama, El Paso, and Mannheim, Germany. They returned to El Paso for the last time in 1975. Harold always had a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye for everyone he met. He retired in 1990 after an illustrious 31-year career at Raytheon and turned his full time to the passions in his life – model airplanes, his computer, his friends and his grandchildren, whom he adored. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Henry Goslin. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Amelia Torres Goslin; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Florence Goslin and Franklin and Gertrude Goslin, of Clinton, Mo.; brothers- and sisters-in law, Charles and Margie Torres and Joe and Margaret Ruiz of El Paso; four sons and their wives, William and Maritza Goslin of Vancouver, Wa., Robert and Gayle Goslin of Blue Springs, Mo., John and Ling Goslin of Sea Cliff, N.Y. and David and Karen Goslin of Charlotte, N.C. Harold was loved dearly by his seven grandchildren, Drew, Juliana, Bryan, Christina, Liam, Christopher and Chantel, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and others whose lives he touched with his gracious good humor. The family has planned a graveside service on Feb. 19, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750, N. Carolina, El Paso, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send memorial contributions to the Assistance League of El Paso, 915-564-0600.
