Gumersindo "Chindo" Lopez, 89, born to parents Domingo and Martina Lopez on January 13, 1927 Socorro, TX. - passed away on his birthday January 13, 2016, surrounded by his family & friends, in the home that he built. At the young age of 17, he joined the US Navy to serve in WWII. Married to his wife Julia Gonzalez Lopez for 65 years. Worked as a Civil Servant for 32 years at White Sands Missile Range as a Missile Electronics Technician of guided missiles; retiring as the supervisor. He was a TV and Radio Repairman, he helped anyone who needed his skills. He was retired for 32 years.
Survived by wife, Julia Lopez; son, Louie (Agueda); daughters: Corrine (Dan) and Irma (Albert); grandchildren: AnnDee, Gabriel, Bernadette, Rene, Amri, Danyel; great grandchildren: Devin, Lilia & Louie, Jr., Allison & Matthew, Aubry & Amari. He is also survived by his brothers: Daniel and Simon Lopez. Preceded in death by sons David & Daniel Lopez.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., with an Open Viewing from 4:00pm - 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil/Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17th, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 18th, 2016 at Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 131 S. Zaragoza Rd. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
