Guillermo Perez born on June 18,1928 in El Paso, Texas. Born to Carlos & Porfiria Perez and passed away August 12, 2021 at the age of 93. He graduated from Technical High School, where he studied printing trade. Mr. Perez served in the United States Navy during World War II at the age of 18; where he toured in the Pacific Islands & various ports of the United States. He worked as a head custodian at Lincoln & Mary I. Stanton elementary schools for EPISD for 40 years. Mr. Perez was up at dusk dedicated to placing the school street safety signs & to raising our American Flag. He had retired in 1969 however, was requested by the administration to gratefully return to work for them. Nevertheless, he returned to work for 5 more years. His service to his position was an integral part of the school's day to day operations, as well as, his great leadership skills to his team of employees. His service to the students, staff & the community was immense. Willie's dedication in fulfilling his role as guardian of the schools & their grounds was extremely important to him. The contributions to his position are beyond reproach. As head Custodian he touched many lives in the education of all the students he served so proudly & honorably. On another note, he demonstrated his navy skills & bravery by saving a drowning person in the Rio Grande rapids, saving a life. Guillermo will be remembered for his eternal love for his bride, Concepcion (Connie). As the most joyous times of his life were spent dancing with her. Mr. Perez will also be remembered for the adoration of his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. Willie is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years Concepcion, daughter, Lydia McIntosh &10 siblings. He leaves a brother, Mauricio Perez. Guillermo is survived by his children Edna Perez Shaw, Willie Perez(Diane) & Ida Arnold; Grandchildren, Jason Molina, Jacob Molina, Jeffrey Creel, Mark Creel(Kristen), Bradley Creel(Auburn Elliott), Jolene Arnold(Christian Aparicio), Breeana Lee Shaw-Harmon(Dustin); Great Grandchildren, Stephan Perez, Diandra Perez, Amanda Buntz, Chance Anthony Molina, Daisy Creel, Jasmine Partin-Creel, Nadine Creel, Kayla Creel, Leeland Busse & Summer Lee Harmon. Willie is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Drive. Interment to follow at 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
