Guillermina Serrano Saenz (“Mina”) passed from this life on May 16, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a brief illness. Mina’s family and friends remember her as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She was known for being fiercely loyal and selfless with her children and grandchildren and wanted nothing more than to see them happy and successful.
Mina was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, on June 25, 1952, the 10 th of 14 children born to Jose Guillermo Serrano and Marcelina Serrano Rios. She attended Austin High School in El Paso, Texas, and later studied at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mina considered a modeling career early. She loved music and dancing. She married Ronald Snyder of Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1970. Mina and Ron had 3 children together: Matthew, Jeffrey and Erica. Mina and Ron moved to El Paso, Texas in 1974 and were later divorced.
Mina then married Manuel “Porky” Duran, of El Paso, Texas, and gave birth to 2 more children, Melissa Duran Snyder and Kevin Duran. They made their home in El Paso, Texas, until Mr. Duran died in a tragic automobile accident on June 29, 1997.
Mina later married David Saenz, a veteran of the US Army, in 2016. They spent 7 happy years together, making their home in Fort Worth, Texas. After David recently retired, the couple bought a home in Cache, Oklahoma. They moved into their new home a short time before Mina’s untimely passing.
Mina was preceded in death by her brother, Venancio, her parents, Guillermo and Marcelina, her brother Antonio and her sister Guadalupe. She is survived by sisters Julia, Reynalda, Olga, Laura, Emma, Patricia and Gloria, and brothers Guillermo, Amadeo and Ernesto and extended family. Mina is also survived by her husband, David Saenz and her children: Matthew (Cassandra), Jeffrey, Erica, Melissa and Kevin (Kimberly). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Andrea (Matthew), Benicio, Hugh, Royal, Drake, Lillianna, Makenna, Nina, Aria, and Kayla, plus one great-grandchild, Hugo.
A viewing will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 9521 N Loop Dr, El Paso, TX 79907, from 5-9 pm on Thursday, May 23 rd . Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24 th at 1 pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 602 S. Oregon St., El Paso, TX 79901, followed by a burial service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Road, El Paso, TX 79907. Pall bearers will be her sons: Matthew, Jeffrey, Kevin, and grandsons: Benicio, Royal, Drake, Hugh.
