Guadalupe H. Apodaca

September 20, 1918 — January 18, 2008

Lupe Holguin Apodaca, 89, went to rest with our Lord and Savior on January 18, 2008. She was born on September 20, 1918 in Socorro , Texas and was a lifelong member of Socorro Mission La Purisima Catholic Church where she taught catechism to several generations of children. She was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Francisca Apodaca and Eloisa Apodaca, her sister Rita Apodaca and her brothers Zacharias and Joe Apodaca (wife Lucy). Lupe is survived by her sisters Filiberta Valles (husband Lalo), Maggie Parks (husband Roger), her brothers Ignacio Apodaca (wife Victoria), Elizario Apodaca (wife Matilde), Jacob Apodaca (wife Tere), Wenceslao Apodaca (wife Francis), over 50 nieces and nephews, 34 great nieces and nephews, and 17 great-great nieces and nephews many of which she had a hand in raising in her Christian faith. Lupe was a kind and gentle soul who would gladly give up her coat to warm her sister, brother, or stranger alike. She was a “second” mom to many of us who were loved and cared for by her. Lupe left a lasting impression, and made this world a better place by the Christian life she lead and the love she shared. We feel she is among God’s favorite children. Our family extends a heart-felt thank you to Lupe’s nieces Elsa Trejo, Irma Valles, and family members and friends and the caring staff at Nazareth Hall Nursing Home who ensured Tia Lupe felt loved and cared for. Visitation from 3 to 6 PM Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home Americas at 9521 N. Loop . Rosary at 7:00 PM at Socorro Mission at 10041 Socorro Road .
