Gloria Viera

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Viera, a beloved teacher, who left us on May 29, 2023, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on September 3, 1957, in Quincy, Massachusetts to Candelaria Ortiz Cruz (mother) deceased and Martin Viera Rivera (father). Gloria was the epitome of kindness and dedication; she touched countless lives and made a significant impact on many of her students.

Growing up in a large family with three brothers and two sisters, Gloria developed an unwavering sense of loyalty to her loved ones. She went on to pursue her passion for teaching.  She moved to Texas where she became a fixture in the El Paso community as a teacher at various schools throughout her career.

Gloria's infectious laugh and warm smile made everyone feel welcome in her presence. But it was her passion for teaching that set her apart from the rest. Her students will always remember her kindness and compassion towards them as individuals, as well as her unwavering commitment to their success. Gloria's incredible work ethic and dedication to her craft inspired countless young minds who remember her fondly up to this day.

Gloria is survived by Jose Jorge De La Cerda (son), Martin Viera Rivera (father), Pura Chittick (Mike) and Maria Viera Williams (Jim) (sisters); brothers Martin Viera Jr. (Vickie), Jorge Viera (Trish), and Robert Viera (Yvonne), numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends will always remember her fondly.

Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with a Scripture Service at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 03, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast located at 4631 Hondo Pass Drive,  El Paso, Texas 79904. 

Gloria's legacy as a teacher and exceptional human being will live on forever. She will always be remembered as a warm and caring person who touched countless lives and made the world a better place. Rest in peace, Gloria Viera.
