Gilberto Rivera

Gilberto Rivera, 89 from El Paso, Texas, passed away May, 10, 2021 Gilberto Rivera was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He was married to Gertrud Rivera. He entered the US Army in Puerto Rico as a young man with only a 9th grade education and thru the years in military service received his Masters of Business Education. He proudly served with distinction until his retirement at Fort Bliss, Texas as a CWO4 in 1981. He was an avid Cruiser. He loved traveling and being out on the ocean. He was a devoted husband and father and took extreme pride in his family including his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grand-children. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gertrud Rivera; children, Gilda and husband Terriel Smith, Gilberto Jr. and wife Patricia Rivera, Carlos and wife Sandra Rivera and Step Daughter Bianka Alvarado, along with 10 grand-children, 15 great grand-children and 2 great great grand-children. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law in Puerto Rico, Anita and Fulgencio Ramos, half brothers and sisters as well as nieces and nephews . He is predeceased by his parents Ramon and Regina Rivera, his former wife, Margarita Rivera and daughter Blanca Watson.
